The built in belt is nice but they seem a bit constricting. Got this in the same size as the others and it is a noticeably tighter fit.

Good shorts, but overpriced. Their convertible pants are identical, but you can wear them as pants or shorts.

still have two of this same Silver Ridge line (or so it seems, as there are no names on the tags) of hiking shorts that I purchased from a Columbia Outlet store in 2013 or so. (Yes, the Outlet store can have different styles altogether, but still....) The 2022 version is made of a slightly thinner material and there is now cloth on the inner waistband. Using a kitchen scale, and removing the belts, my older shorts weighed in at 7.2 oz and the 2022 shorts were 6.6 oz. -- without the cloth on the waist, I suspect the 2022 version would weigh even less. So yeah, these shorts are made from a thinner material than before, but I'm still very happy with my purchase at a 50%-off sale price. Having waist sizes in inches, instead of letters like the other brands, allows for a better fit, esp. with the supplied belt. The back and cargo pockets have Velcro except for the one with a zipper, and are in the right places.
