Ordered these shoes for the Max OutDry. I have worn them around the farm, as a test and feet stayed dry. Will be using them in V.I. doing some hiking, hope to have dry feet.

I buy about one pair of outdry Columbia hiking shoes per year as I hike frequently in all weathers here in Montana. I can't rate these on their waterproofing yet as it's been so dry, but the previous pairs have all been outstanding in that respect. I was most concerned about the 'wide' width of these as I've had problems with pinching in the past couple of pairs due to being too narrow. These seem better - I'm usually a 9.5W and I bought a 10W in these. The toe box seems a little more confined length wise, but width is good. The cushioning is good - I could use a bit more arch support but I haven't used my orthotics yet and so far these have been fine for short hikes. Grip wise - they are great for hiking - typical of Columbia outdry hiking shoes. To be honest the only thing I struggle with is the look of the shoes. I bought them on sale and I will get used to them, but they seem less contoured than the previous styles and honestly kind of resemble loafers - not really what I was going for! However, I'm wondering if the reason they don't pinch my wide feet is because they are less contoured. Comfort wins over style in this case!
