Overall this is a good competitor to other grid fleece jackets (Patagonia R1, OR Vigor, etc) that cost $100-150. Checks all the boxes for me: nice trim cut, long body length which fits under a climbing harness well, stretchy, 3 pockets, no hood (I have other layers with a hood and don't need one with my fleece). I use it for ski touring, cross country skiing, and mountaineering in the PNW. This jacket is obviously designed to be a 2nd layer in a layering system; it seems other reviewers did not understand that and purchased the wrong product for their needs. This is not the warmest fleece out there, but the warmth feels correct for a 2nd layer, in my opinion. My main complaint: the thumb loops are an outdated, poor design. If you look at competing products, the thumb loops lay flat when not in use. On this jacket the thumb loop doesn't 'close' and always leaves exposed skin. This is drafty, catches on things (ice axe) and also leaves a spot on my wrist to get sunburned if I don't remember sunscreen. I suspect the rudimentary thumb loop design helped Columbia hit a desired price point for this jacket; honestly I think the jacket would be better with no thumb loops at all vs the current design. As for longevity: it's a fleece, I'm sure it will hold up fine. All in all, I am happy with this product at the sale price point.
